National Savings Scheme under Directorate of National Savings
 
i. 5 Years Bangladesh Sanchayapatra
Introduced : 1977
 

Denomination: Tk.10/-, Tk.50/-, Tk.100/-, Tk.500/-, Tk.1000, Tk.5000/-, Tk.10,000/-,Tk.25,000/-,Tk.50,000/-Tk.1,00,000/-,Tk.5,00,000/-,& Tk.10,00,000/-
From Where can be purchased: National Savings Bureaus, Branches of Bangladesh Bank & Schedule Banks and Post offices.
Duration : 5 Years
Rate of Profit : 12% (on maturity)

Permissible limit: Tk.50 lacs for Single or Tk. 1 crore for joint investment.

 
ii. 3 Monthly profit bearing Sanchayapatra
Introduced : 1998
Denomination : Tk.1,00,000/-,Tk.2,00,000, & Tk.5,00,000/-.
From Where can be purchased: National Savings Bureaus, Branches of Bangladesh Bank & Schedule Banks and Post offices.
Duration : 3 Years
Rate of Profit : 11.50% (on maturity).
Permissible limit: Tk.50 lacs for Single or Tk. 1 crore for joint investment.
 
iii. Pensioner Sanchayapatra
Introduced : 2004
Denomination: Tk. 50,000/-, Tk.1,00,000/-, Tk.2,00,000/-, Tk.5,00,000/- & Tk.10,00,000/-.
Eligibility to purchase: (a) Retired officials and employees of Govt., Semi Govt, Autonomous and Semi-Autonomous Bodies of civil and Armed forces.
(b)Under family pension, beneficiary (Husband/wife/Children ) of deceased/Retired Military and Civil employees of Govt., Semi Govt, Autonomous and Semi-Autonomous Bodies.
From where can be purchased : National Savings Bureaus, Branches of Bangladesh Bank & Schedule Banks and Post offices.
Duration : 5 Years
Permissible limit : 30 lacs Earned from Gratuity and Provident Fund.
Rate of Profit:12.50% (on maturity).
 
iv. Wage Earner Development Bond
Introduced : 1981

Denomination : Tk. 25,000/-, Tk. 50,000/-, Tk.1,00,000/-,
Duration : 5 Years
Rate of Profit : 12% (compound )
Eligibility for purchase of the Bond :
(a) Bangladeshi Wage -earner serving abroad on his own earnings in foreign exchang in his own name or in the name(s) of any other person(s) named in his own application.
(b) Beneficiary of the Wage-earners' remittance in foreign exchange in his own name.
(c) Govt. Employees working in Bangladesh Mission abroad.
(d) Permissible limit : No maximum limit.

 
v. 3 Years National Investment Bond
Introduced : 1992
Denomination : Tk. 10,000/-, Tk. 20,000/-, Tk. 50,000/-, Tk. 1,00,000/-, Tk. 50,00,000/-, Tk.1,00,00,000/-, TK. 2,00,00,000/- and Tk.10,00,00,000/-.
Profit : 8.50% (Simple rate).
Duration : 3 years
Permissible Limit : Without limit.
From where can be purchased : Branches of Bangladesh Bank / Sonali Bank ( Treasury Branch).
 
vi. Bangladesh Prize Bond
(Denomination Tk.100/-)
Introduced : 1995
Prize money in every series and every draw:
i) 1st Prize - 1 no - Tk. 6,00,000/-
ii)2nd Prize - 1 no - Tk. 3,25,000/-
iii)3rd Prize - 2 nos- Tk. 1,00,000/-
iv)4th Prize - 2 nos - Tk. 50,000/-
v)5th Prize - 40 nos- Tk. 10,000/-
Other features :
a) Number of Bond in every series 10 lacs.
b) Draw every after three months.
c) Lock up period : 2 months before draw.
d) Prize money may be claimed within 2 years from the date of draw.
 
vii. Post Office Savings Bank

1) Ordinary Accounts :
Rate of Profit : 7.50%
Permissible Limit : Tk. 25 lacs for Single and Tk. 50 lacs for joint investment.

2) Fixed Deposit Accounts: Account holder may draw profit every after six months.

(a) If Profit is withdrawn on completion of each period of six months 10%.
(b) If Profit is not withdrawn on completion of each period of six months 12%.
(c) Permissible limit : Tk. 50(fifty) lacs for single or Tk. 1(one) crore for joint investment.

 
viii. Postal Life Insurance

This is a government owned and runed Insurance Policy.
Eligibility for adoption of Policy : (a) Government, Semi-Government, Autonomous and Private Sector employees, (b) Member of Army , Navy and Air Forces..
Type of Policy : Whole Life Policy, Fixed Term Policy, Education Policy Marriage Policy, Sudden death Policy, Welfare Policy for whole life inability, Policy without medical examination.

Yearly bonus for Tk. 1000
Whole Life Policy Tk. 42.00
Fixed Term Policy Tk. 33.00.

 
ix. U.S.Dollar Premium Bond
Introduced : 1st Nov.2002
 
a) Eligibility for purchase of the Bond: The Bond may be issued in the name of a holder of a non-resident account against remittances from abroad to the account.
b) Rate of Profit:
 
  Encashment Interest Payable
(a) Within one year from the date of issue. No interest
(b) After completion of one year but wihtin two years. 6.5%
(c) After completion of two years but wihtin three years. 7%
(d) After completion of three years. 7.5%
 
c) Denomination : US $ 500, $1000, $5000, $10000 and $50000.
d) Permissible limit: No maximum limit.
e) Maturity Period : Three years from the date of issue.
f) Investors of One Million US Dollar and above shall be treated as CIP.
g) Profit will be paid as per above rate converting (USD to BDT) in BDT.
 
x. U.S.Dollar Investment Bond
Introduced : 1st Nov. 2002

a) Eligibility for purchase of the Bond: The Bond may be issued in the name of a holder of a non-resident account against remittances from abroad to the account.

b) Rate of Profit:

 
  Encashment Interest Payable
(a) Within one year from the date of issue. No interest
(b) After completion of one year but wihtin two years. 5.5%
(c) After completion of two years but wihtin three years. 6%
(d) After completion of three years. 6.5%
 
c) Permissible limit: No maximum limit.
d) Maturity Period : Three years from the date of issue.
e) Denomination : US $ 500, $1000, $5000, $10000 and $50000.
f) Investors of One Million US Dollar and above shall be treated as CIP.
g) Profit will be paid as per above rate in USD may be drawn half yearly basis.
